For parent Minnie from our Pudong campus, that progression has been visible in her daughter’s experience since joining the College at the age of seven:

"Before joining Dulwich, my daughter hadn't really started writing in English. A year later, with EAL support alongside the immersive English environment, she is confidently writing a full page, keeping little notes and a diary in English, and even choosing to speak English at home. Sometimes she'll say, 'Let's speak English for the next fifteen minutes', or she says, 'Let me tell you from the beginning', and proceeds to tell me a whole story."

"Since joining Dulwich, Harry has made noticeable progress in English. With the support of the EAL team and his class teachers, he now feels more confident speaking in class. His writing skills have greatly improved - he can organise ideas clearly and use richer vocabulary. We are truly grateful for the tailored guidance that helped him achieve this breakthrough."

Zhenzhen （Parent of Junior School student at Our Puxi Campus）

"When I first arrived from a Shanghai local school, I could barely follow full English lessons and often felt pressured. Thankfully my teachers were so welcoming that I never felt awkward or scared to speak. Through LEAD and English B, the weekly vocabulary and grammar practice felt lively rather than rigid, which slowly grew my confidence and even supported my early progress in Science. Most of all, I am proud that English across all my subjects now feels clear and comfortable. This whole journey of learning English here is a memory I truly treasure."

As students develop, teachers continually review their progress and learning needs through observation, ongoing assessment and professional judgement. And as students progress, the level of support and pathway can change with them.
