Wellbeing

Wellbeing

Wellbeing is critical to academic and life success. Only with a solid foundation of wellbeing can students achieve all that they are capable of, and at Dulwich College Shanghai, wellbeing, health, safety and social-emotional care come first. Every member of our community is dedicated to supporting this, from the curriculum to the campus environment, student agency, our policies, and our partnership with parents.

Curriculum

Healthy living is embedded into our fully articulated curriculum, beginning with a self-care framework in Early Years and moving through Junior and Senior School with age-appropriate topics covering diet, relationships, body and mind, sexuality education, mental health, digital intelligence and growth mindset. This gives students the vocabulary, self-awareness and tools to take ownership of their own wellbeing and that of others.

Student Leadership

Students are empowered to play an active role in their own wellbeing, both through formal channels such as our Prefect and Ambassador programmes and through ongoing feedback that shapes the school environment, our wellbeing curriculum and parent workshops. Students are encouraged not only to propose wellbeing initiatives, but to lead them and drive real impact within the community.

Parent Partnership

Wellbeing is strongest when home and school work together. Alongside workshops on academics and how to support learning at home, we run sessions on parenting topics shaped directly by community feedback, helping ensure wellbeing is considered both in and out of school.

Food and Fitness

Diet and physical literacy are important elements of healthy living. Our Student, Staff and Parent Food Committees work closely with our caterers to ensure meals are nutritionally balanced, while our physical literacy curriculum and co-curricular sports programme offer something for every age and ability, including opportunities to compete at the highest levels in Shanghai and beyond.

Digital Wellbeing

Through our partnership with the National Online Safety Organisation, we ensure our community has the skills to build healthy, safe relationships with technology. Our student Digital Safety Leader programme trains volunteers to deliver eSafety knowledge to their peers.
